What could be more colorful than a Michigan Wine Tour?

Traditionally, Michigan Quotarians would gather in the fall to attend the annual

Region / District meeting. We looked forward to a fall color trip that often included a winery, a pub or a roadside fruit stand. As the nights get cooler and the colors change, a harvest of the state’s plentiful fruits brings out the winemakers and wine lovers in more than 100 wineries throughout Michigan.

Of course wine tours can happen at a moment’s notice almost any time of year, no matter what colors nature is broadcasting. Plenty of reds, whites and rosés to fill your glass! (Quota’s Region 4 meetings now in the spring still include colorful road trips.)

And today with the spilling over of craft beer breweries throughout the state, there are many more opportunities for beverage tours, from coast to coast. There are over 400 breweries and brewpubs in Michigan. In Grand Rapids alone (named Beer City USA in 2013) there are 37 to choose from, several just down the street from the Amway Grand Plaza downtown.

Beer not your thing? There is a growing number of craft distilleries and cider brewers too.

They offer fun food pairings, as well as guided tours and tasting events.

Need help deciding what to try first? Michigan Quotarians are happy to share their favorite beverages!
