Michigan, Region 4 Quota Members Showing off their Smitten with the Mitten at Convention
by Sue Scharf, President of Quota International of Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids, August 20, 2018 – Why We Call This Place Home
We are thrilled to welcome all Quotarians to our home town in 2020! As you saw at Convention 2018, Michigan has so much to offer, and Grand Rapids in particular is sure to keep you energized.
I am very proud of our Grand Rapids club, which was founded in 1945, just about when World War II was ending. Our members have always been very generous with their time and talent and making a difference in our community. Most recently, we hosted a performance of Snow White at Grand Rapids Community College. Thanks to one of our lifetime members, we were able to fund the installation of a hearing loop system there. The deaf kids were thrilled to get autographs from Snow White herself!
Coming up is our 9th Annual Duck Walk at our newest YMCA. It is the only Y in the country that is completely accessible for all abilities. We are in the midst of funding 9 hearing loop systems there, to make the Y state of the art for people with hearing loss.
Of course, we are all Smitten With The Mitten, and can’t wait to share with you in person many more attractions, like Fred Meijer’s Garden, Jerry’s oval office, the Grand River that runs right through town, the Downtown market, Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant, and yes — The Mitten Brewing Company. Nearly everything is within 10 minutes of the hotel – on foot or wheels.
